Our 2020 weddings won’t have any arbour work unfortunately, and I’m grieving it in the worst way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ People are opting for more intimate ceremonies and celebrations which I’m all about. Complying with guidelines and being cautious keeps us safe and alive. But large scale wedding work is my most favourite and although most would like to save the big impact designs for larger celebrations, I’m not that type. 😬 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m thinking of placing an arbour in our yard and practicing different designs, just because. (Or for zoom baby showers, cause let’s be real, if you’re like me you could probably count out at least 5 ladies you know who are pregnant right now, right!?) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’d like to do a fully foraged and 100% sustainable design for my first attempt. Celebrated quitting my day job with a mani-pedi, the second best thing to cake 😋 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I always trust @coastalcakeco to not only come up with a cake style+design that fits the certain feeling I want for a styled shoot or a wedding, but also I love that she’s willing to place the flowers on her masterpiece as well. (Any other florists out there get completely freaked out and nervous when they have to dress a cake with flowers!?) Marieke has an incredible eye and is such a joy to work with. I have some incredible news I want to share with you!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After 6 years of part-time floral design while still working other jobs in between, I have decided to focus solely flowers 🥰 that’s right, I officially quit my part-time to make this floral side hustle the main event!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This will finally allow me to give my business the time and attention it needs to grow without having to work 6-7 days a week (my mental health just doesn’t allow for that kind of busy) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So beginning this weekend I will be offering a limited amount of bouquet wraps for purchase. Oh hi 👋🏼 didn’t see you there 😜 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s been a while since I showed the face behind the blooms (not just the back of my head while flowering 😉) so I thought I’d share some little deets you may not know in case you’re curious. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. I’m certified bilingual French/English although not being immersed for a number of years has worn down a lot of my language skills. Somehow the loud and over gesturing aspects stuck though 🤷🏼‍♀️ Maybe that was inherited from my Québécois grandpa 😋 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. I am a forever student. I love the classroom setting and learning new skills. I could take courses/classes/lessons til the bitter end - bring on the homework!📚 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Introverted - specifically an INFJ - and very obsessed with Meyer’s Briggs and everything psychology related. I also love telling people I’m an introvert because they generally can’t believe it - I think it’s that loud talking thing 😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. I played the baritone sax all through highschool and yes it was bigger than me! I was in every jazz band possible and definitely went to band camp 🤣 #noshame 🎷 - 5. I have two wonderful nephews and a sweet little niece with no plans on the horizon to have any kids of my own. - 6. British Columbia has not always been home for me. I was born and raised in Ontario and besides my friends and family there’s not much a miss about it. Okay, maybe the shopping! 🛍 - 7. I have really grown to love arranging flowers. What started out as an idea has bloomed into a business that connects me to some incredible couples. It has forced me to push through a lot of really challenging situations and see my strengths and weaknesses up close.
